lost contents of my documents

I was attempting to move the contents from the mydocuments folder to a new profile. The copying seemed to be going ok, about 80-90% copied when a popup appeared saying it could not copy a file in it "in use" error, so the copying ended.
Now the 80-90% that had copied is GONE. It does not exist in either profile.
Any suggestions as to what temp location/or anywhere that I might be able to recover this from?
